Hamburg-X: New center for data science in the natural sciences
4 February 2020
The Center for Data and Computing in Natural Science (CDCS) is being established within the framework of the state research promotion Hamburg-X. It was designed in cooperation with the Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron (DESY) and the Technical University of Hamburg and is to become part of the planned Science City Bahrenfeld. Matthias Rarey, as spokesman for the project, coordinates the development of the center. The project serves to establish interdisciplinary Data-Science Labs (CDLs) in the fields of astro- and particle physics, photon science, systems biology and physical engineering. These will be supported and networked by a central unit in computer science. In addition to the Helmholtz Graduate School DASHH established last year in the field of Data Science, the CDCS is a central component of the digitisation strategy for Science City Bahrenfeld.
