Computational Photon Science (CDL2)
The postdocs are collaborating with scientists at the European XFEL to find a new statistical method for masking pixels of the Large Pixel Detector (LPD). This method will be applied to the first serial crystallography experiments recently performed at the FXE instrument.
Furthermore, the postdocs are working on an artificially intelligent system for aligning protein crystals in the X-ray beam of a synchrotron, which is an important step towards full automation of crystallographic experiments. Another collaboration is with the Beamline P11 team, where neural networks will be used to automate the sample centering system.
For the project "Triggering events in serial femtosecond crystallography", the revised version of the "hit-finding" software Cheetah to a real-time online/offline framework is currently being tested in high-speed experiments.
